Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days

The Michigan Grape Society and Michigan State University Extension will host the 2017 Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days on Feb. 1-2 at Lake Michigan College's Mendel Center in Benton Harbor, Michigan. There will be a trade show located in the Grand Upton Hall, and a raffle drawing for prizes donated by trade show vendors.

Production issue discussions will be led by MSU Extension educators, fruit growers and university researchers. All sessions will include RUP credits. The educational sessions are divided into topics: general, vegetable, tree fruit, blueberry, wine and grape. Topics will include cover cropping, soil conservation, pest management practices, horticultural practices, labor and regulations.

The trade show and registration open at 8 a.m. with educational sessions beginning at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is by mail and is $25; on-site registration is $30. Informational mailing and registration forms were sent out to previous attendees, but you can download a registration form. You can also call Allen Zelmer at 269-870-5265 to request a registration form be mailed to you.

A hot lunch is included in registration. While the event is geared towards horticultural producers in the region, the public is always welcome.
