WHAT? Wine Grape Session at the 2020 Northwest Michigan Orchard and Vineyard Show
WHEN? January 14th and 15th, 2020
WHERE? Peninsula Room at the Grand Traverse Resort Hotel (100 grand traverse village blvd, acme, mi 49610).
WHY? The purpose for the 2-day Wine Grape Session is to bring viticulture experts from Michigan State, Cornell, The Ohio State, and Washington State Universities to the Traverse City area to share basic and applied research ranging from industry fundamentals to exciting new research with the ultimate goal to improve sustainability and profitability of northwest Michigan’s vibrant wine grape industry.
TOPICS & ACTIVITIES? Topics will cover the horticulture, entomology, pathology, sustainability, climatology, water usage, equipment troubleshooting, and geospatial/ technology aspects of wine grape production and fermentation in northwest Michigan. This event will also feature a social hour showcasing the region’s wines and ciders, a winemaker’s wine tasting, and a special session focused on generating revenue to support Michigan’s wine grape industry.
EVENT BACKGROUND? Although the Wine Grape Session has traditionally been designed/intended for the northwest Michigan region, considerable input and resources have been gathered to ensure value to winegrowers and winemakers throughout the state of Michigan. This is part of the “collaboration” endorsed and supported by the Michigan Wine Collaborative.
